I truly enjoy working with our students, families, staff, and community!
I love spending time with family (especially my hubby and our kids), anything New York, reading, traveling, going to the beach, sports, being outside, all four seasons (especially snow), helping others, holidays, and decorating. So excited for a fantastic year working together!

I bring over 20 years of experience in education, having served as both a classroom teacher and a school principal in the Ghana Education Service before transitioning into school counseling. A proud graduate of Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, I continue to build on my passion for student growth and well-being. Originally from Ghana, I am blessed with a loving family my wife, Deborah Oburoni Gyimah, and our three wonderful children, Jayden, Josiah, and Joleen. My “why” in school counseling is rooted in a lifelong commitment to helping students discover their potential and overcome barriers to success. Having spent two decades as a teacher and principal, I witnessed firsthand how academic struggles, social pressures, and emotional challenges can hold students back. I chose school counseling to be an advocate, guide, and support system creating safe, inclusive spaces where every child feels seen, valued, and equipped to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. My mission is to empower students to make positive decisions, embrace their strengths, and prepare for bright futures. I see counseling as both an art and a science because it requires a balance of evidence-based practices and human connection. The science lies in the use of theories, data, and research-driven interventions that guide effective strategies to support students’ academic, social, and emotional development. At the same time, counseling is an art because it demands empathy, creativity, and intuition to understand each student’s unique story, build trust, and adapt approaches to meet individual needs. Together, the art and science of counseling allow me to blend professional knowledge with compassion, ensuring that students feel both supported and empowered. |
